I don't know about you, but to me a coffee table is much more than just a low table where magazines can be placed underneath and coffee or cocktails served on the top. A beautiful glass top coffee table with ornamental legs positioned over a quality rug can be an attractive focal point in any room. The modern coffee table is made of all kinds of materials in all kind of styles and there will defiantly be something to suit your décor.
Do you ever think your living room is missing something? Quite often it just may be an accent piece of furniture and a couple of leafy plants. You may be surprised how much difference to your living area a glass coffee table will make. Honestly, they really do fill a redundant space well plus they're very easy to clean and look just great.
Most people who are responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the home want things that are easy to care for and keep clean. Predominately the top of the glass coffee table is the glass portion which is easily cleanable and can be wiped off. A regular coffee table which is made of wood sometimes stains. Sometimes when glasses are set on them they can cause water marks and rings on the wood forever damaging the table. With a glass coffee table it’s easier to have glasses on the table as well as not having to constantly keep an eye out to see who is not placing a coaster under their drinking vessel. When you're entertaining guests it can be a hindrance to have to watch where they are placing their drinks because you are so concerned about the furniture. Heck, you want to enjoy their company not monitor it!
Accidents can and do happen occasionally, and sometimes a mishap may result in damage to the glass coffee table, notably the glass part of it. This is not the case with other types of coffee tables as when there is a stain or a break generally the whole coffee table needs to be replaced or refinished. When the glass breaks on the coffee table you can usually remove it and take it to a glass store to have it replaced.
Generally these types of tables are constructed from a wood frame with a glass insert. They are aesthetically pleasing, as many different types of wood can be bought to match the décor and other furniture in the room where the coffee table is placed. One of the advantages of a glass coffee table is many things, from books to flowers, can be placed under the glass which can be seen through and looks great when there is nothing on top of the glass.
But a glass coffee table is not every one's cup of tea. In fact, such is this piece of furniture that it's really easy to replace and try different styles. If you have a friend or family member that has one you particularly like the look of, they may let you take it home with you to try before buying your own. You wouldn't want to do that with a 3 piece suite!
In our home we've had the square coffee table, a round coffee table, a beautiful wood coffee table (that I was nervous to use as it was a very pricy oak coffee table), and a marble coffee table, which was find at the time, but no longer suited the décor of our home. But the bottom line here is that there are no limits to the variety of table out there and you can defiantly find one that will complement your room(s).
There are some coffee tables too, which are simply stands with an entire piece of glass set on top. This type of glass coffee table is also easy to clean and can be very compact, which means it can be put away after it is used. This can be a nice feature if there is not much room or if you are entertaining guests.
One of the most appealing aspects of purchasing a glass instead of a traditional wooden coffee table is the cost. They tend to be less expensive. A glass coffee table can also be improvised with any glass top of your choosing and by putting anything underneath it from a stand to a chest or trunk.
Currently we have a metal glass coffee table. The legs are made from wrought iron and in the shape of dolphins. The glass top is actually an 8 inch deep fish tank that has 14 goldfish swimming inside which really does make a nice feature for the room. It's a little hard to describe it but if you could see it I'm sure you would think it novel and very attractive. So you see the sky really is the limit with a glass coffee table. Got yours yet?
