Getting First Time Home Buyers Grants & First Time Home Buyer Loans in 2009 is still Possible!

Thanks to the so called credit crunch, a lot of the banks aren't lending out for first time home buyers loans. That said, with a little preparation and know-how, it is still possible to get a mortgage. Better still, those folks who qualify for first time home buyer grants still qualify despite all the doom and looming gloom for 2009.

First Time Home Buyers Grants Available Amid a Recession

Here's a Newsflash! Far too many people think that when the economy is bad, life and living goes on hold and the only way out is to wait for things to pass. People don't start businesses because of it, don't invest because it, and don't apply for things they're eligible for because of it, including first time home buyer grants and other systems setup to help folks to help themselves. Tip: Don't follow that mentality and go on and push forward with life no matter what. Despite TV news and all the barroom gloom, societies do continue to tick over where they need to. Never listen to the doubters and go apply for whatever it is you're after despite it all.

All too often, people don’t apply for things they are entitled to simply because they don’t think, or they don’t know, they are entitled. First time home buyers grants are nothing new and there are literally millions of dollars set aside each year to help low-income first-time homebuyers. However, there are some folks find that they don't qualify for a grant but at the same time are unable to find enough cash to get their foot onto the bottom rung of the property ladder. Don't worry, all is not lost.

When I was just 18 years old, I went to my local bank and asked about getting a mortgage. A first home, my first home, was something I'd dreamt about all through high school. However, my dream was to be shattered in a 3 minute interview an assistant manager. He told me that as things were, I stood no chance of becoming a first time home buyer because I was in low paid employment. "First time home buyers have savings, prospects, and are usually in a relationship", he went on to say.

As if I didn't feel bad enough, he then told me that home loans for first time buyers are only given out after careful consideration, and my case wasn't even worthy of consideration. He continued that if I was to ever be seriously considered for first time home buyers loans, then I would have to further my education, get married, and reapply when I could offer the bank a bit more stability in my application!

But even after demoralizing me in this way he finished by saying that by the time I had sorted myself out, property prices would have risen so much that I'd have missed my change of ever being a home owner, so he didn't hold much hope for types like me. Pratt!

Well anyway, that was then and this is now and things and things have changed a lot since then. Yes, property prices have sky rocketed over the years, but there are more schemes than ever before to help first time buyers, at all ages.

First time buyer, home loans often come with all kinds of extras too which are really useful to those struggling to get started in life. I eventually bought my first property when I was 39 years of age. I wasn't required to place a deposit, and what's more, the bank even gave me a couple of thousand dollars to get started, plus a fixed rate mortgage for 6 years which was very favorable at the time.

So you see, if you qualify, you can apply for a grant for first time home buyers, and if you don't, you can scout through the hundreds of first time home buyer loans and startup plans for the less well off.

Although property prices have risen at an alarming rate, things have never been so good for first timers, since the first time home buyer loan options are in abundance and highly competitive. Don't be put off with the high cost of property. If you really want to own a little slice of land of your own, you will surely find some of the first time home loans that will accommodate your situation.

And don't get overwhelmed by newspapers, magazine articles, TV, and the internet. Talk to real people about what it is you want, as it is real people, not print on paper, that can give you accurate, up-to-date information and advice on the current situation.
